Hunsader Farms and Random News
So I went with my girlfriend to Hunsader Farms’ Pumpkin Festival over a month ago, and I just now got around to sortingout the photographs, so figured I’d make a blog post about it now. Not too much to it, I suppose. Went to the Pumpkin Festival, walked around, looked at crafts and such, had a great time. Of particular interest was a massive pneumatic pumpkin cannon, which hurled pumpkins a thousand-some feet off into the forest (I can only hope no unfortunate persons or woodland creatures became its target).
The Pumpkin Festival is always an amusing affair. They had some nifty games set up for the children, and a whole bunch of craft booths. And, of course, funnel cake and elephant ears and all other manner of delicious fatty carnival foods (as modelled by Danielle, to the right). There were also assorted animals to pet, Hunsader Farms being Hunsader Farms and all. We went for a nifty hay ride, and even got to see some rescued birds of prey at a stand some folks had set up along the main way. And, of course, we got to navigate the corn maize, which turned out to be much more difficult than expected. We also went to see a nearby park afterwards, that I really wish I could remember the name of. I’ll have to take another look at it next time I’m out that way, because it really is an amazing place.
Other than that, there’s not too much random news of late. Two days ago (11/11/08) I went completely vegan: after seeing what all goes on in the milk and egg industries, there’s just no way I can continue to support them. And now thanksgiving is coming up, and I’ll get to try out having Tofurky for dinner. They say it tastes just like turkey, so hopefully whoever “they” are will be right. The semester is finally drawing to a close, and I absolutely can’t wait to be back home for Christmas with the family and everyone. First, though, I have to finish all these darn classes. Speaking of which, I’d best go finish up that Intro to Discrete homework…
